Burmese Teak, or just Teak, is a native wood of Southern Asia. Common applications of this species lumber include ship and boat building, furniture making, exterior construction, carving, turnings, and other small projects as well as veneer which you see here. Its grain is straight with an occasional wavy or interlocked look in some boards while the texture is coarse and uneven with a moderate to low luster. The color is quite simple and consists of a golden to medium brown heartwood which darkens with age. Teak as a lumber is usually considered a standard of resistance as it is rated very durable along with completely immune to termites and somewhat resistant to other insects.
